Hunterdon County Rules
Please read the Hunterdon County League Rules for the 2009 spring season.

Carry these rules and your team roster with you to all games.

·        Prior to the start of the game:
Coaches are to discuss the rules with the referee and opposing coach prior to the start of the game. Also before the start of the game coaches from each team will need to agree on which method the start of game will be played.

·        Call or email your opposing team’s coach each week: by Wednesday before your game, leave a message to confirm the location, game time and uniform color. This will help avoid conflicts on the day of the game. In the event that both teams have the same uniform colors, the home team is required to use different color pennies.

·        All FIFA rules and regulations are in effect with the exception of the following:

·        Ball size: Division 3 plays with a size 5. Division 4 & 5 plays with a size 4

·        4-goal rule. If a team is leading by 4-goal, that team must remove a player. The player removed should be its best player. Coaches are reminded and encouraged to manage the score. Move players around, encourage more passing to taking shots, using opposite foot for shots. The removal of player/s should be on a discreet basis. Please remember that this is a recreational game for the enjoyment of the players.

·        Players are not allowed to “play down” under any circumstance.

·        Substitutions are allowed on any stoppage of play in accordance with FIFA rules.  Substituting players must be standing/ ready at the half line before stoppage play. Players must wait for permission/direction from the referee to enter the field.

·        Slide Tackles are NOT ALLOWED for ANY age group

·        Lengths of quarters: 2 different methods will be accepted. Method 1) 15 minute
quarters, for Division 3,4,& 5 stopping at the approximate quarter end at a dead ball situation and resuming the next quarter at that spot. Kick-offs would be at the start of the 1st and 3rd quarters. Method 2) 15 minute quarters for Division 3,4,& 5 with a kick-off to re-start all quarters.

·        No jewelry is permitted this includes recently pierced earrings. The only exception is
religious items and they must be taped down. Hard casts are not permitted. Soft casts
or bandages are allowed and will be checked. Safety glasses are required by state
law for any child/children participating in sports. The law is posted on our website www.hollandrecsoccer.com .

·        Paying referees for home games only:
Each coach will be given one check for the total number of home games that they are scheduled to play. Please cash and take with you to all your home games to pay the referee. Any away games will be the responsibility of the opposing team. If your team is playing a home game against the other Holland team, then the team that is noted as the home team pays the referee. Any money left over due to cancelled games that are not able to be rescheduled should be handed in at the end of the season.

·        Cancellation of games due to weather or field conditions will generally happen approximately one hour before the first scheduled game. Be sure that you communicate with your team’s parents how you will contact them if a game is cancelled. Ex: Make a contact sheet with their cell # in case they plan to be out and want to go straight to the game.

·        Cancellation of away and home games:
Every township will be responsible for canceling their home games. If your team is playing away then the opposing home team should call you to cancel. Do not rely on this. If you think there is a chance your game might be cancelled call the opposing coach and get a heads up on the situation. For all Holland home games I will call the referees and the coaches of any cancelled games. Then each coach can call their team to advise and reschedule a make-up game.

·        Rescheduling make-up games: Please do not reschedule set games unless they are cancelled for weather or field related conditions. We are using a professional refereeing service that has been contracted for all Sunday scheduled home games. Our league will be held responsible for all changes and charged additional fees. If you need to reschedule a home game due to a weather cancellation please call Linda Motta , only after you have called the opposing visitor coach and have mutually agreed on a new day and time. Then let me know what division you are, the day and time you would like to play. Remember to give at least two to three day notice to schedule a referee.

·        House rules for Home games: A team who has the last scheduled game
of the day on their field should collect the corner flags and place them by
the equipment shed. Assign two captains for before each game and have them be
responsible for the flags. After all games please remember to pickup all trash
and dispose of it properly.
